But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits,
without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. James 3:17-18
Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9
We know about the fruit of the spirit. Who can do all that?
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23
We also know that a good tree bears good fruit and a bad tree bears bad fruit.
Then you remember the Law is a gauge, for if we have no goals to reach for,
we wouldn’t know what we are supposed to strive for.
Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight:
for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20
I suppose if any human were honest,
they would say they lack in at least one of the fruits of the spirit.
Some are easier for some of us to do than others.
That thought is not to condemn us, but to help us remember God’s grace toward us.
Shouldn’t everything be so easy since all we have to do is to ask God to help us?
We live in this world and we battle our own flesh.
First we have to convince our flesh to follow the Lord, that is step one.
Then, we have to submit to Him after we have chosen to love the truth
and honor Jesus above our own selves.
Then there are a whole bunch more steps after that that we make for ourselves
that coincide with the word of God, so we’re not wrong per se.
Will we ever get there?
Is that what humility means?
That we realize we won’t ever really get there?
If we keep striving and reaching toward obedience and choosing God’s way
instead of our own, we might bear more fruit.
Maybe the amount of fruit we are bearing is not what we should consider,
or even our failings in doing His word,
but keeping our eyes on Him and our hearts fixed on Him
and letting Him cleanse the burrs out of our flesh so we can bear more fruit.
The fruit is what God sees. Sometimes we see it, sometimes we don’t.
Focusing on our accomplishments is not beneficial.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
It’s all about glorifying God, not us.
