Remember when Abraham and God were going back and forth
about how many people might be righteous in Sodom and Gomorrah?
Abraham stopped at 10
America is on her way to the Judgment of God
That is sure, that is promised, as is the promise of Judgment for all the world
Will God stay His hand if enough of us pray,
if enough of us are petitioning for His mercy?
Who can know?
When David had a choice of punishments for his folly,
he chose to be in the hands of God because he knew God is rich in mercy, whereas men are not
When Jonah warned Nineveh, Jonah was reluctant to warn the people
because he knew God was merciful and He might turn His hand away
in the event they repented, which is exactly what happened
and Jonah was not pleased with God
because he felt like a fool in front of all the people of Nineveh
God did not apologize to Jonah, but maintained His choice:
And should not I spare Nineveh, that great city,
wherein are more than sixscore thousand persons
that cannot discern between their right hand and their left hand;
and also much cattle? Jonah 4:11
When God spoke to Noah, He was determined to flood the Earth
and to remove all men from the Earth except for Noah
and his few family members and the created animals that were upon the Ark.
God did not hold back His hand
With Sodom and Gomorrah, God rained fire and brimstone upon them
and they could not escape
He also sank the city of Tyre due to their haugtiness
There are other examples in the bible of God’s judgment
His cup seems to get full, to the brim, and then He pours it out
One thing is clear: that God gives chances
He warns and gives opportunities for repentance
God does that in big things and in small, like in each of our lives
There is room to repent
So, each paradigm is considered by God, each heart, each instance
He gives every soul a chance
God has a way of separating His people, those who are faithful to Him
Sometimes Jesus’ followers have died, even a martyr’s death
Sometimes He protects His people,
like He did in the land of Egypt when He sent the plagues
When things get too grievous, we will see His retribution
Are we there yet?
