In the beginning was the Word
and the word was with God and the word was God John 1:1
And God said Let there be light and there was light. Genesis 1:3
Jesus was with God in the beginning
If you’ve ever studied Jesus in the Old Testament, you know He was there
From the very beginning
God is the same,
He doesn’t change
The same yesterday, today and forever
He gathers the sand in His fists
He spoke the world into existence
He hears the faintest cry
He pays back people for the evil they have done
He teaches and reaches out to those who will listen
He offers wisdom and council to those who will hear
If anyone seeks Him, they shall find Him if they search in spirit and in truth
By knowing the Old Testament,
so many things in the New Testament are clear
God shared His heart with the prophets of old
As you read the Old Testament prophets, you will notice how God feels,
how He shares His heart with them
He also spared those who called upon Him
He explained how important it was to be humble before Him
to reach out to Him and how He notices each cry
When He gave the priests their specific duties, each was an act of obedience
We see in the Old Testament that He desires obedience more than sacrifice
That God looks on the heart,
that He wants us to learn about wisdom and to fear the Lord
David spoke of Jesus, so did Isaiah
There were many references of the Lord Jesus throughout scripture
He showed how we must listen
Seek Him
Jesus did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it
His hands worked to accomplish that
His sacrifice was given and was foretold in the Old Testament Isaiah 53
The Messiah, the soon coming King
The New Testament has its roots in the Old
The cross references can help you out there
Jesus is the Beginning and the End, the Alpha and the Omega
Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever Hebrews 13:8
