Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples,
whom Jesus loved. John 13:23
John referred to himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved
Jesus never called him that
He loved all His disciples
God shows no favoritism or partiality
John was comfortable with Jesus
He rested his head on Jesus’ chest
What a sweet show of affection
That reciprocal relationship that God has with each of us
Spending time with Him, learning more about Jesus and who He is,
what He is like, how to understand Him,
We can’t just accept what people tell us
Each moment we spend with Jesus,
either in prayer or reading His word,
brings us closer to His presence and His character,
that He cares for each one of us,
and we are reminded that He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Don’t be in a hurry when you’re spending time with God
Let Him teach you
Wait patiently for the answers,
the answers may not be what you think they are
Love the truth and listen for it
Listen for His voice
My sheep know My voice and they follow Me
He may not speak to you instantaneously
Sometimes, it’s when you least expect it
or when you wait patiently
There is no perfect way to hear from God,
but when He speaks, you will know it is Him
What does His voice sound like?
It’s pure
Full of truth and light
Every word in the Bible is His voice,
While that sounds trite, it is far from it,
The Bible is filled with living words to feed and nourish our souls
Washing us with the water of the word, a cleansing feeling unique to God
The disciples knew Jesus was the Messiah
Jesus told them they knew that
because it had been revealed to them from on high
Not everyone will see
That is God’s desire that all who will, come
Come be refreshed
Come find the Prince of Peace who guards your soul,
Who loves you with an everlasting love
Maybe we’ll never be quite as close to Jesus as John was,
but we can be and it takes effort on our part
God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
But without faith it is impossible to please Him:
for he that cometh to God must believe that He is,
and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
