God is Near to the Brokenhearted

The pain is unbearable
I wonder how my body can still live
The pangs feel like a knife slicing me up the middle
Are you listening, God
Do you see my suffering?
Do you understand?
You have so many people at your throne
I am just one among many
bothersome, I am sure,
Every day my prayer is the same
The pain goes away then comes back
Each day, it is there again
puts me to sleep and is there when I awake
I have to walk about and try to forget
But it doesn’t go away
It lingers and torments
and brings about the remembrance of the unfulfilled promise,
the broken, seemingly forgotten, unanswered prayer
Why must it tarry?
Could it be there are conflicting prayers and desires?
That I pray for your will and my will as well?
You protect me from my own lusts as I pray
Thy will be done and deliver me from evil
Lord clarify Your will to me
Let my desires be in sync with the desires You have for me
