I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins,
even to give every man according to his ways,
and according to the fruit of his doings. Jeremiah 17:10
God does not see as man sees
He mentions several times that He looks on the heart:
That He searches our hearts:
And I will kill her children with death;
and all the churches shall know
that I am He which searcheth the reins and hearts:
and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. Revelation 2:23
A human can be kind and the most wonderfully considerate person
you’ve ever met while his or her heart can be full of rocks
It is so hard for us to be able to judge someone
That is why, with our limited knowledge, we cannot judge hearts
We can judge them according to the word of God,
but unless the Lord clearly shows us what is inside their heart,
we are unable to know
Then hear Thou in heaven thy dwelling place,
and forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his ways,
whose heart thou knowest;
(for Thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)
1 Kings 8:39
That is a prayer Solomon prayed, son of King David,
who was dedicated to the Lord,
as his heart was mentioned by Samuel,
who anointed King David because God was looking on his heart:
But the Lord said unto Samuel,
Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearance,
but the Lord looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
It is not our place to decide someone has a good heart or not
We are not to follow any man, and we are to trust only in the Lord
Obedience to the Lord either way,
whether they have a good heart in the Lord’s sight or not
We are to love our enemies:
But I say unto you, Love your enemies,
bless them that curse you,
do good to them that hate you,
and pray for them which despitefully use you,
and persecute you; Matthew 5:44
Sounds easy, it’s not
God is always there to give us His strength if we ask
and sometimes if we don’t
Sometimes, if we are just trying to please Him,
He will see that and fill in where strength is needed
And He that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit,
because He maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:27
We are to examine our own hearts
Let us search and try our ways,
and turn again to the Lord. Lamentations 3:40
Let the Lord see if there is any wicked way in us:
Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me,
and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting. Psalm 139:23-24
Let Him cleanse our hearts
Purify us, Lord
But He knoweth the way that I take:
when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Job 23:10
That the trial of your faith,
being much more precious than of gold that perisheth,
though it be tried with fire,
might be found unto praise and honour and glory
at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 1 Peter 1:7
