God’s Mercies are New Every Morning

It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. Lamentations 3:22-24

Your mercies are new every morning?
How is it that they are new every morning?
The same ones would be fine and enough
How do we get new mercies from You every morning?
New day, new mercies
New battles, new obstacles, new revelations,
What are mercies exactly?
What does it mean, mercies?
It must mean that You see our needs and the things that concern us
and You’re always working on our behalf,
when we put our trust in you and even when we don’t

Nope, good guess, but not exactly, while all that is true,
Mercy is different:
This is the best definition I could find: “compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one’s power to punish or harm” (dictionary.com)

It’s your forgiveness
Your Fresh mercies
To meet a new day,
remembering that we serve a risen Savior
who has cleansed our sins

Yesterday is over and gone, staring fresh, starting new
Let us bask in in that
Bask in Your forgiveness
When you have the power to destroy us,
You choose to forgive us
Let us be sensitive to your mercies and appreciative of them
not to take them for granted
Let us exercise the same mercy toward others
when they flub up or offend us
Let us love people as You have loved us, dear Lord Jesus
And receive the forgiveness You have extended to us,
let us also extend that same mercy to those in our life
And thank You, Jesus, for Your mercies that are new every morning
