But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing,
that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years,
and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8
There is a lady who I had a dream she believed was from the Lord
She dreamt that there was a huge Tsunami in Florida
Another person said: It never happened
Whose timeline are we under?
Ours or God’s?
When God told Abraham that his seed would be
as the sand of the sea and the stars of the sky,
Abraham never saw that come to pass
In fact, it would be centuries before it happened
That prophecy was given when he was about 100 or so
And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed,
and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29
We know that prophecy has come to pass
The prophets of old spoke many things that have yet come to pass
Daniel spoke of the Abomination of Desolation
Satan is bringing wickedness on the earth
Revelation reflects Daniel’s visions
Jesus spoke of it in Matthew 24
It has not quite happened yet,
but it seems to be very close
God’s timing vs. our timing
We are encouraged to keep our eyes on Jesus,
the Author and Finisher of our faith
Prophecies in the Bible help us to be warned of what God is doing
He does nothing but what he reveals to His servants the prophets
and God is still warning through His prophets to this day
Seek Him for discernment and wisdom
so you are not led astray by false prophets
who proclaim to be speaking for the Lord
Surely the Lord God will do nothing,
but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. Amos 3:7
Jesus must always be glorified and not the prophets
That is one litmus test
A true prophet does not want to be a mediator or a spokesperson for God
A true prophet wants only to speak
what the Lord has given them to speak to glorify God
and then step out of the way
The prophetic words must always reflect God’s word
In the Old Testament, prophets were judged
by whether or not their words came to pass
When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord,
if the thing follow not, nor come to pass,
that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken,
but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously:
thou shalt not be afraid of him. Deuteronomy 18:22
In the New Testament, the prophets are judged by the other prophets:
Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by,
let the first hold his peace. For ye may all prophesy one by one,
that all may learn, and all may be comforted.
And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
For God is not the author of confusion,
but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 Corinthians 14:29-33
Scriptural References:
That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying
I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven,
and as the sand which is upon the sea shore;
and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;
because thou hast obeyed my voice.
Genesis 22:17-18
And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week:
and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice
and the oblation to cease,
and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate,
even until the consummation,
and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Daniel 9:27
When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation,
spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place,
(whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
Let him which is on the housetop
not come down to take any thing out of his house:
Matthew 24:15-17
And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies,
then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Luke 21:20
