So much pride in our world
So much teaching of our rights as Christians
So much entitlement
So much position
So much confession of what the Lord will do for us
They call it standing on the promises
Think of that statement
Standing on the promises, where are the promises?
Under our feet?
I could find no scripture where we are to stand on the Bible
Neither were there any that said we should stand on the promises
Where is the humility in that thought?
God’s word is not a thing that we gather and use for our righteousness
God’s word IS God
We don’t stand on God
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God. John 1:1
Our position in God is not without God
We don’t function on our own
We can’t do anything for God without God
Without Me you can do nothing
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without Me ye can do nothing. John 15:5
Some disregard God when they speak of God,
they use Jesus as a pedestal to lift themselves up
Watch out for those people
Those who climb above God to shout are not to be given reverence
An example of this is not honoring this scripture:
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus; 1 Timothy 2:5
One God, one Mediator, Jesus
He is it
Jesus is where we should cultivate our relationship with God
Learning from another is not the same as letting them be your mediator
Good pastors and teachers help us to cultivate our relationship with Jesus
They never want to take His place
If your teacher is pointing you to him or herself,
get as far away from them as you can get
If a teacher is pointing you toward the Lord
and helping you to draw closer to the Lord on your own, that is healthy
Do not let any man get in between you and God
Don’t seek a word from God from another person
Do not let anyone act as God, the Mediator, to you
Draw from your own cistern
Drink waters out of thine own cistern,
and running waters out of thine own well. Proverbs 5:5
Stay away from those who want you to drink from their wells
instead of pointing you to the Savior, to hear a fresh word from the Lord,
the One Mediator, Christ Jesus, who speaks to each of us individually
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: John 10:27
