Isaiah 54 was speaking to me one day when I read it.
The whole chapter became alive to me.
I knew the Lord was promising me something.
I did not understand the fulness of it. I also did not dismiss it,
but I did not understand what it was all about. I knew it was good.
I felt like it was spiritual more than natural,
that I would have spiritual children, maybe help others grow in the Lord.
Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing,
and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child:
for more are the children of the desolate
than the children of the married wife, saith the Lord. v. 1 KJV
O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold,
I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. v.11
This scripture was speaking to me who did not have the best life,
during childhood and into adulthood.
I had gone through trials and through those trials,
it seemed to be saying, I would become become more like Jesus.
That was part of the promise of this chapter for me.
God may open up His word differently for someone else.
It could be the same chapter might mean something different for them
or they could have similar experiences that did I,
but He might give them an entirely different chapter or set of verses
that speak to them by His Holy Spirit.
That is the marvelous and wonderous miracle of His word.
It is alive active and it reaches and touches the deepest places in our hearts.
Sometimes we understand part of a promise, but we know there is more there.
What do we do at that point?
We can read it and study and pray about it
and fast about it and seek Him about it.
We can glean what we can for the time being, knowing there is more there,
but maybe it is for another time since we can’t demand He open up His word.
We can trust Him that we receive what we need each day,
sometimes each moment when we are going through difficult trials.
It is all up to each one of us how we seek the Lord.
We are all different and we all have our individual relationships with Jesus.
There really are no rules how you study His Word.
Our walks with Jesus somewhat similar to any relationship,
we have our special moments that no one else shares in.
The gems in His word are so many and you might see them glistening,
but getting to them and their beauty might not be easy to see or grasp.
It can take diligence or patience to uncover or realize their meaning.
Since His word is alive, it can grow, so don’t confine God’s word.
There is no guarantee how large a treasure in the Word will be.
I have a few scriptures that keep getting bigger and more beautiful
as I understand them and have seen God perform them time and time again.
Jesus’ Word is alive and very strong.
One such scripture is: And we know that all things work together for good
to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 KJV
I have seen God honor that scripture many times.
There are some messes I have been in, whether they were my fault or not,
and Romans 8:28 has been combined with another scripture:
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them,
With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:26
That particular scripture is a reminder that God can do anything He wants.
God works impossible things for good. It is marvelous to watch.
I never wonder whether He will perform His word or not,
but rather, I wonder how He is going to do it and marvel when He does.
Jesus’ Word becomes more precious to us as we understand it more.
The Holy Spirit is our teacher and our guide.
So, when something in the word seems like it is speaking to you, it most likely is. God has a way of teaching us and sharing Himself with us.
Do the best you can to be humble and listen and He will feed you from His word,
which is a most satisfying experience.
