As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you;
and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. Isaiah 66:13
As the days grow darker, we will need more comfort
We find our rest in Him
We look to Jesus to protect us, to guide us and to comfort us
John found his comfort on Jesus’ chest
He rested it there often
The disciples found their comfort in Jesus over and over in many situations,
in some situations where there seemed to be none
In the boat, in the tumultuous sea,
when they were asked to do things by Jesus but were unsure,
there is comfort in obedience,
in doing what you know God has asked you to do
And then, there is comfort in completing the task,
in knowing you have fulfilled what God asked of you
Our comfort in Jesus is not a fleshly comfort, but a spiritual comfort,
being close to Him, listening to Him, speaking to Him, conversing with Him
Comfort in our souls, a strong comfort that satisfies,
where we are very aware that He is in charge
of whatever it is we are unsure of
David went to the Lord for his comfort
So did Job
So did Jonah when He called out to God from the belly of the whale
Esther, when she was afraid to go before the king,
she called for a fast and thereby saw God move to protect His people,
thereby comforting them and herself and Mordecai
The stories of God providing comfort are endless
The most important take-away is that we also can find comfort in our Savior,
in His love for us, in His Holy Spirit that He sent for us to be comforted
I will send My comforter
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7
And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter,
that He may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive,
because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him;
for He dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. John 14:16-17
Jesus’ comfort for us is endless,
it alleviates fear and is a great form of His love
Accept it, get used to it and relish in that comfort
He is there for us and He has bountiful, ample comfort
however we need Him to assure us of His love and presence
