He Opens Doors No Man Can Shut and Shuts Doors No Man Can Open

“And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder; so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.” Isaiah 22:22

“And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth” Revelation 3:7

The House of David is symbolical of the bloodline of Christ. The key is symbolical of spiritual opening and closing. This is not a physical door.

He watches over our lives the same. Just yesterday, I was pleading with the Lord to open a door I want opened. He has the key and He is the decider since I have put my life in His hands and committed it to Him. I may plead, but if it’s not good for me or if the timing is off, that door will not open.

We need to trust Him for His knowledge and will for our lives. If we trust Him, when we think a door should be open that is closed or as in my case, that was slammed shut, we would be wise to look for the blessings He has and it’s not going to help to pound on the closed door.

This is all metaphorical. As Jesus spoke in parables and hid the meaning of what He was saying, He still often does it to this day. We must seek Him to unravel mysteries and find the understanding of things. The disciples asked Jesus to reveal things to them. The prophets of old knew He was a complex God and sought Him to interpret the true meaning of the metaphors or parables, even dreams often.

A few examples:
“But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth” Matthew 6:3
David and Goliath, David represented trusting in the Lord and small flesh, Goliath represented the World, big flesh.
Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths. Hosea 2:6
“And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life” Genesis 3:14

When He closes a door, accept it. Look for the blessing, there usually is one. Submission and obedience. We can waste our time trying to open a door He has closed or submit to His will and know He has every aspect of our lives in His hands.
