The Apple of God’s Eye, literally means The Pupil of God’s Eye.
What does the pupil do exactly?
Unless you need to know, you may have forgotten.
“Your pupil lets light into your eye as the muscles of your iris change its shape. The lens in your eye focuses light that passes through your pupil. Light then goes to the back of your eye and hits your retina.” from: cleavelandclinic.org
These words were first found in the Song of Moses,
the friend of God, about the children of Israel:
He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness;
He led him about, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.
Deuteronomy 32:10
When you hear this, you might think of and hope to be treasured by God.
He does treasure each and every one of us who follow Him,
the Jew first and also the Gentile.
Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of Thy wings,
Psalm 17:8
Jeremiah was one whom God trusted and shared His heart with. Jeremiah understood God’s devout love for His people, Israel.
Their heart cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of Zion,
let tears run down like a river day and night: give thyself no rest;
let not the apple of thine eye cease. Lamentations 2:18
This verse shows God’s promise of protection over the land and people of Israel.
For thus saith the Lord of hosts;
After the glory hath he sent me unto the nations which spoiled you:
for he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of His eye. Zechariah 2:8
In the New Testament, there is not the term Apple of God’s Eye, but I found this:
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written,
There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer,
and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
For this is My covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes:
but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. Romans 11:26-29
And, of course, as always, there are many other verses that God can use and may open up to you. Consider the preciousness of Israel in God’s sight. He is caring for them and will be bringing them back to Him as we get closer to the End of Time.
