I heard of a preacher yesterday who said he did not believe in Hell.
He stated this on Facebook
and many of the comments were people who agreed with him.
I didn’t see it, only heard about it.
It concerned me greatly but did not surprise me.
Jesus spoke of Hell many times both when He walked on earth,
and in the Book of Revelation of Jesus Christ
when He spoke to John to share with all mankind.
It’s easy to find Hell and The Lake of Fire with word studies:
And Death and Hell were cast into the Lake of Fire.
This is the second death. Revelation 20:14
The Lake of Fire is referred to as the second death.
Death and Hell were cast into the Lake of Fire.
The Final Judgment.
When Jesus returns to the earth, there will be much fire.
For, behold, the Lord will come with fire,
and with his chariots like a whirlwind,
to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
For by fire and by his sword will the Lord plead with all flesh:
and the slain of the Lord shall be many. Isaiah 66:15-16
The hills melt like wax at the presence of the Lord.
The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice;
let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
Clouds and darkness are round about him:
righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord,
at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
The heavens declare his righteousness,
and all the people see his glory. Psalm 97:1-6
Hell was spoken of many times throughout the Old and New Testament.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear:
Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell;
yea, I say unto you, Fear him. Luke 12:5
People despise Hell and the talk of it.
They want to think Jesus is sweetness and love.
Jesus is Love.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:8
For our God is a consuming fire. Hebrews 12:29
God is also a God of Judgment and Wrath.
He separates good from evil.
If people choose to cling to their evil,
they will not be able to commune with God.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.
God should be feared with a reverent fear, a respect
not taking Him or His grace for granted.
Many do just that.
They might believe and have even confessed their belief:
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well:
the devils also believe, and tremble. James 2:19
This is why the Once Saved, Always Saved doctrine is so dangerous.
We are not promised Salvation no matter what we do.
We are given Salvation as a gift from God
and it should be considered as such.
That gift is at His mercy and His compassion.
It is not simply because we have said the sinner’s prayer.
The fear of Hell for a Christian is not that He will but that He can.
But if you do not forgive others their sins,
your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:15 NIV
If ye love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15
