Then opened he their understanding,
that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them,
Thus it is written,
and thus it behooved Christ to suffer,
and to rise from the dead the third day Luke 24:45-46
God reveals secrets to us in part or in full
God does nothing but what He reveals to His servants the prophets
In Luke 9,
Jesus said to His disciples when they were alone with Him:
The Son of man must suffer many things,
and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes,
and be slain, and be raised the third day. v. 22
Let these sayings sink down into your ears:
for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. v. 44
But they understood not this saying,
and it was hid from them,
that they perceived it not:
and they feared to ask him of that saying. v. 45
Jesus was hidden in plain sight
The people of the towns saw Him,
knew of Him and listened to Him
Some of their neighbors were healed by Him
The Pharisees knew of His teachings
and many of them heard those teachings
But they didn’t understand who He was
The blind receive their sight,
and the lame walk,
the lepers are cleansed,
and the deaf hear,
the dead are raised up,
and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
Matthew 11:5
He healed the sick
raised the dead
cast out demons,
performed miracles of supply (Luke 9:16)
turned water into wine, (John 2:9)
had no place to lay His head (Luke 9:58)
And they were all amazed,
insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying,
What thing is this?
what new doctrine is this?
for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits,
and they do obey him.
And immediately his fame spread abroad
throughout all the region round about Galilee.
Mark 1:27-28
Jesus had no earthly Kingdom,
yet some of the worldly kings
in the church and on the earth
were afraid He was going to take theirs
Then from that day forth they took counsel together
for to put him to death. John 11:52
They wanted to shut Him up
They couldn’t understand Him
So they wanted to kill Him
The King of the Universe,
The Messiah
The Alpha and the Omega
The First and the Last
The Beginning and the End,
The Omnipotent
The Only Begotten of the Father,
The One who has power to cast both body and soul into Hell,
They wanted to kill Him
There is a time when they remembered His words:
And when the centurion,
which stood over against him,
saw that he so cried out,
and gave up the ghost, he said,
Truly this man was the Son of God. Mark 15:39
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures Luke 24:45
Jesus was able to hide things in plain sight
He did this for His own purposes
We may understand sometimes and sometimes not
The fact that He revealed Himself to us is a miracle and a blessing
I suppose, the best blessing of all time
For if He writes our names in His Book of Life
and we have forgiven as He has forgiven us
and done the things He has commanded to us,
and asked for forgiveness for our failings,
We will be with Him in His Kingdom
which is more real than anything
we can see, touch, hear, smell or taste
For since the beginning of the world
men have not heard,
nor perceived by the ear,
neither hath the eye seen,
O God, beside thee,
what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
Isaiah 64:4
