He that covereth his sins shall not prosper:
but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13
Sweeping things under a rug
Ignoring sin that has been revealed to you by the Holy Spirit
That is part of a purging that the Lord does to purify us
Each of us have had different experiences.
which is why we should never compare ourselves
to someone else as a way to measure our progress
What is God asking of you?
That is the question
Not: How do I compare to someone else?
Humility is an important part of repentance
Realizing that we are unable to
resist sinful nature without God helping us
He wants to cleanse us and give us strength to overcome
But He knoweth the way that I take:
when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. Job 23:10
If we think we can take care of things on our own, without Jesus,
we are lacking humility
Peter saith unto Him, Thou shalt never wash my feet.
Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with Me. John 13:8
Without Jesus, there is no remission of sins
We cannot overcome sin without Jesus,
trying to take care of our own sin is arrogance and pride,
our very sinful nature
I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Luke 5:32
Those who think they are perfect do not need Jesus
Hiding our sin, trying to overcome it without asking Jesus to help us,
without asking Jesus to cleanse us, will get us nowhere with God
Jesus is not looking for our perfection,
He is looking for our humility before Him,
a contrite heart
and a willingness to give up what is important to us in our flesh
Lay it on the table for Him to see
He will give you a way to escape, to overcome the sin, whatever it is
Jesus is all powerful, all knowing and He has all the answers
for any and all things that ail us
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin;
for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin,
because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9
