And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years,
which had spent all her living upon physicians,
neither could be healed of any,
Came behind him,
and touched the border of his garment:
and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
And Jesus said, Who touched me?
When all denied,
Peter and they that were with him said,
Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee,
and sayest thou, Who touched me?
And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me:
for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
And when the woman saw that she was not hid,
she came trembling,
and falling down before him,
she declared unto him before all the people
for what cause she had touched him,
and how she was healed immediately.
And he said unto her,
Daughter, be of good comfort:
thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
Luke 8:43-48
The answer is seemingly easy,
Jesus noticed her because of her faith
When she touched his garment,
virtue went out of Him
He wanted to know who it was
Who had the faith,
what was there that was different about her
than all the other people touching Him?
Jesus noticed her
Peter said:
“Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee,
and sayest thou, Who touched me?”
In other words, it could’ve been anyone
But Jesus noticed her
Just before this happened,
Jesus had just admonished the Centurion
and his great faith:
Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee:
but say in a word,
and my servant shall be healed.
For I also am a man set under authority,
having under me soldiers,
and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth;
and to another, Come, and he cometh;
and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.
When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him,
and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him,
I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Luke 7:7-9
Jesus asked when the son of man returns to the earth will he find faith?
How can we tap into that?
The real faith?
This is a rhetorical question,
a thought-provoking question,
a question that might make you want to search your own heart
and come before the Lord and see where you are in this subject
There are answers on how to increase our faith,
but He noticed some more than others:
Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child,
he shall not enter therein. John 10:15
Later in Luke 8,
He first invited a few of his disciples
Peter, James and John
only those three and the mother and father were allowed in the room
I wonder if those were the disciples
whom he thought might be the most likely to believe
and have faith for the miracle He was about to do
or if already knowing how they would respond,
He wanted them to be closest to the miracle,
maybe they were the ones with the least amount of faith
maybe they would learn the most from the situation
“And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.”
The girl’s parents had faith enough to go and get Jesus to heal her
but then He had to remove them from the room
along with the three disciples
before he took her hand and raised her from the dead
I don’t want to be the person
God has to put out of the room because I don’t believe
I heard of a church the other day that has a spark of revival
When they baptize people,
they have had healings when the people come up out of the water
One boy received his full sight
and a woman with Leukemia and many tumors was completely healed
Verified Medical miracles as they went to the doctor afterwards
How can we get that kind of faith?
Faith is different than believing
Faith adds an element of trust
We know: Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God
We know God is Faithful, meaning He will do what He has promised
It is not always easy to take His word seriously
since our world is what we see, hear and smell,
it engulfs all of our senses
That is why it is so important to exercise our spiritual senses
To do all the things we know to build our faith
And it shall come to pass afterward,
that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh;
and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
And also upon the servants
and upon the handmaids in those days
will I pour out my spirit.
And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth,
blood, and fire,
and pillars of smoke.
The sun shall be turned into darkness,
and the moon into blood,
before the great and the terrible day of the Lord come.
And it shall come to pass,
that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be delivered:
for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance,
as the Lord hath said,
and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. Joel 2:28-32
