How to be a blessing?
It is hard to know sometimes
what someone else needs
Sometimes, they don’t even know what they need,
so how can you know what they need?
The right words, doing the right thing
They always could use prayer, but what else?
You can comfort, listen, give, spend time, help with this or that,
but how do you know you’re hitting the mark for the Lord?
The good thing about God is:
Jesus is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart
He sees your efforts
He knows when you’re trying to listen to Him,
trying to do what is right to help Him by helping others
Since Jesus did nothing but what He saw the Father do
and said nothing but what He heard the Father say:
Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you,
The Son can do nothing of himself,
but what he seeth the Father do:
for what things soever he doeth,
these also doeth the Son likewise. John 5:42
For I have not spoken of myself;
but the Father which sent me,
he gave me a commandment,
what I should say, and what I should speak. John 12:49
We also should be listening to the Holy Spirit,
which will make our efforts more powerful, whatever they are
It is when we desire to please God, the best way we can,
and follow the commands He has given us,
which are too numerous to mention all of them,
and done so with a clean hearts, that our efforts will shine
Let’s touch on a few of those commandments:
Count others better than yourself:
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;
but in lowliness of mind
let each esteem other better than themselves Philippians 2:3
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
This is my commandment,
That ye love one another, as I have loved you. John 15:12
Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies,
do good to them which hate you, Luke 6:27
Of course we cannot forget the greatest two commandments:
And he answering said,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind;
and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:27
Remembering that Jesus also considers that
if we do something for the least of these, we have done it for Him
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you,
Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren,
ye have done it unto me. Matthew 25:40
There are many ways to be a blessing
Most importantly, doing our best to be the person
we understand Jesus wants each of us to be
by carrying our cross daily, studying His word
to know just what He expects of and asks from each of us
Seek His face and check with God to see what He is asking of you
He will let you know
Then we may indeed be called His disciples by Jesus Himself
and be both a blessing to others and a blessing to God
