Some people don’t believe it’s possible to fall away from the Lord.
They think if you do, you were never saved.
Solomon fell away from the Lord.
The Lord warned him:
But king Solomon loved many strange women,
together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;
Of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel,
Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you:
for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods:
Solomon clave unto these in love.
And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old,
that his wives turned away his heart after other gods:
and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God,
as was the heart of David his father. 1 Kings 11:1-4
Solomon’s life did not end well.
He who wrote the Books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and The Song of Solomon, who was filled with God’s wisdom,
who even had two dreams which were from the Lord
to teach him about the Lord God Almighty.
Solomon had every opportunity,
but he went his own way.
Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon,
Forasmuch as this is done of thee,
and thou hast not kept My covenant and My statutes,
which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee,
and will give it to thy servant.
! Kings 11:11
I cannot find a prophet who served Solomon,
which means God Himself spoke to Solomon.
He heard from the Lord directly and yet, refused to serve Him.
Even after all that wisdom and all the blessings spiritual and earthly.
Solomon was filled with wisdom, but he lacked the fear of God,
which was the beginning of wisdom.
He possessed wisdom, but how did he lose the fear of the Lord,
which was the beginning of wisdom?
The wisdom never belonged to Solomon.
We cannot use God for anything.
All of His endowments remain His.
The gifts He gives are a part of Him.
We cannot separate God from His gifts.
Jesus is the great I Am.
He is our healer
He is our provider and all the other descriptions of God are listed in scripture.
Without Him, we can do nothing. see John 15:5
Solomon could do nothing without God.
He did not own the wisdom, in fact,
He lost the wisdom somewhere along the way.
Whether or not he ever had the fear of God is not clear.
He surely did not have the fear of the Lord at the end of his life.
Did he regard the word of the Lord above his own self?
His life showed he did not for he chose many women above God and refused instruction and knowledge from God Himself.
Solomon’s life is just one example of how not to fall away.
There are many more.
Jesus has to remain front and center
and be the One we follow and give reverence to.
