Thou we are created in the image of God, that does not mean we are gods.
Perfection? Only in Jesus, not in ourselves.
When we fail, when we sin, whether intentionally or not, we are reminded of how imperfect we are.
The more we sin, we can become numb to the Holy Spirit and His presence if we engage in sin.
I noticed that in myself.
When I spoke unkindly of someone, I felt a pull, a reminder that this does not please God.
Pretty soon, because I kept doing it, I didn’t hear God anymore.
Now, I just hear silence, which is another way God speaks to us, by not speaking to us.
We cannot pull the wool over God’s eyes.
No matter how justified we think we are, we will never have an excuse to sin.
Mindless chatter, idle words and all other failings we have will be judged by God.
If He’s judging you now, listen, take care of it, let Him cleanse you, otherwise, you’ll hear about it later.
Be humble, keep loving and be correctible.
For whom the Lord loveth He correcteth; even as a father the son in whom He delighteth. Proverbs 3:12
That should make all of us feel better, right?
Yes, because if He is not correcting you, you have gone awry, farther from His ways than is safe.
Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar,
and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;
Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother,
and then come and offer thy gift. Matthew 5:23-24
Jesus does not want us to cozy up to Him when we have ought against someone.
He wants us to take care of our responsibilities and then come and spend time with Him.
In other words, not ignore things, let Jesus take care of them.
He sees them, they are obvious to Him, so we might as well let Him help us deal with them
because they won’t go away on their own.
Humans are humans and will always need God.
