Being humble before God’s word.
That means, you cannot twist it to make it say what you want.
Take it as it comes, as it is written.
By making it say something different,
softening it or changing it in any way is not humility.
Loving the truth means loving His word.
Jesus is the Word.
The Word is Living and Active.
The Word is a lamp unto our feet and light unto our path.
Think of the Word like you think of God.
Bow before it, realize it is God in written form.
It cannot be changed or removed.
It expresses His truth, His purposes, His very heart.
I have heard some say they don’t like this or that in the word.
In The Book of Revelation, Jesus says:
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,
If any man shall add unto these things,
God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy,
God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18-19
While removing or adding words is mentioned in this chapter,
it is impressive how important His word is, that Jesus is the Living Word.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)
full of grace and truth. John 1:14
When I was young, I realized that God knew more than I did.
I received His word as the word of the Living God.
Love it. Embrace it. Accept it. Humble yourself before it.
Scriptural References:
For the word of God is quick, and powerful,
and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,
and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105
