Depart from Me
We all want to hear, Well done thou good and faithful servant,
enter into the joy of thy Master
Some will hear Depart from Me
and will be cast into outer darkness
Many will plead with Jesus,
haven’t we done many marvelous works for You?
He will say, I never knew you
I never knew you
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you:
depart from Me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:23
Obviously, God knows everyone
What does Jesus mean when He says I never knew you?
They were serving another Christ?
They might’ve been serving themselves
They might’ve been trying to purchase their way into Heaven
They might’ve had wrong motives
No matter what they did wrong, they didn’t do something right
What was it?
What did they miss?
How did they get it so wrong?
Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence,
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12
To work out your own salvation means you go before the throne of God
and make sure you’re doing what He has given you to do,
that He is foremost in your life,
and that you are right with Him
There might be more the Holy Spirit wants you to know
The Holy Spirit is the One who leads you and guides you into all truth
Maybe they said the sinners prayer and went about their life,
thinking that was all they had to do to receive salvation
because someone told them that was all they had to do
What did Jesus tell them?
Did they ask?
Did they listen?
We have seen many preachers who do many marvelous works today
Healings, prophecies, words of knowledge
Some are not from the Lord
They have other things that they are bringing to the people
It is not Jesus, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Maybe an angel, maybe themselves
“Listen to me, I will tell you what you must do. Follow me.” they say
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matthew 24:11
The key is if Jesus is not the center of their lessons, stay away from them
And He is the head of the body, the church:
who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;
that in all things He might have the preeminence. Colossians 1:18
We must be very careful who we listen to, who we learn from
Following a human is always a bad idea
We should only follow Jesus
Listening, obeying and bringing our selves to Him
to be corrected to find help from Him while remaining humble
This is what God is looking for: For all those things hath Mine hand made,
and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look,
even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at My word. Isaiah 66:2
Additional Scriptures:
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant;
thou hast been faithful over a few things,
I will make thee ruler over many things:
enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matthew 25:23
However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come,
He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak from Himself,
but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak;
and He will show you things to come. John 16:13
