Solomon, the great king, King David’s son.
The one who was chosen to build God’s holy temple on earth.
Solomon asked the Lord for wisdom and he got it,
then he squandered it.
In the end, the man who wrote Proverbs and Ecclesiastes
and had all the wisdom he could ask for. turned his back on the very One
who gave him the wisdom and his heart followed other gods.
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old,
that his wives turned away his heart after other gods:
and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God,
as was the heart of David his father. 1 Kings 11:4
If Solomon can fall, anyone can fall.
Solomon gave wisdom to others.
He was famous for his wisdom, still is.
He somehow thought he owned the wisdom.
That was not the case. It was leant to him from the Lord.
God is wisdom.
We cannot take the attributes of Christ and use them without glorifying Him.
They will backfire on us.
Without Him, we can do nothing. Without Him, we are nothing.
I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in Me, and I in him,
the same bringeth forth much fruit:
for without Me ye can do nothing. John 15:5
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
1 Corinthians 10:12
Scriptural References:
In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him,
Ask what I shall give thee. And Solomon said unto God,
Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father,
and hast made me to reign in his stead.
Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established:
for thou hast made me king
over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
Give me now wisdom and knowledge,
that I may go out and come in before this people:
for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart,
and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour,
nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life;
but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself,
that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches,
and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had
that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
1 Chronicles 1:7-12
