Some people seem to always have a lot.
Most of us have plenteous times and lean times.
Thus the line in many matrimonies: In Plenty and in Want.
This can be in monetary needs and wants as well as emotional.
Sometimes we’re lonely, sometimes we have a lot of friends around,
other times not.
Sometimes we love our jobs and are satisfied and fulfilled in life,
other times we are not.
Not that I speak in respect of want:
for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound:
every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full
and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. Philippians 4:11-12
Be content in your circumstances
That goes along with not coveting, not wishing for something more,
like the Israelites did.
And the whole congregation of the children of Israel
murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness:
And the children of Israel said unto them,
Would to God we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt,
when we sat by the flesh pots, and when we did eat bread to the full;
for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness,
to kill this whole assembly with hunger. Exodus 16:2-3
In other words, the Israelites thought that if God was a good God,
He would not have let us suffer and stretched us and tried to teach us
how to get rid of our foolish fleshly desires.
That’s what God does. He helps us to put aside our flesh.
Our flesh does not serve Him or want to. The flesh wants what it wants.
The flesh must submit to our spirit,
which can submit to the Holy Spirit, willingly.
The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb,
and naked shall I return thither:
the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away;
blessed be the name of the Lord. Job 1:21
God is there and will supply your needs.
He has things lined up for you.
For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine,
and the fulness thereof. Psalm 50:11-12
