It’s Only Temporary

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth:
and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. Isaiah 65:17

Anything in this world is temporary
hay, wood and stubble
It’s here today, gone tomorrow
Choose anything here, fame, fortune,
whatever you can think of, houses, cars, diamonds, gold,
whatever you seek, it is all temporary
It will all burn on the last day and will mean nothing in eternity
Absolutely nothing
Zero
Zilch
Emptiness

The voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry?
All flesh is grass, and all the goodliness thereof
is as the flower of the field: Isaiah 40:6

As they say, looks are deceiving
Our own hearts can lead us astray,
lie to us, tell us how important it is to acquire worldly goods
We have this and have that and then we want this and want that
Sometimes at a cost higher than we should pay,
the cost of relationships that are neglected, the cost of our health, our sanity

We work and toil and desire and it all amounts to nothing
Nothing but what we do for the Lord will matter in The End
The times we have reached out our hand
The times we have given and expected nothing in return
The times we have helped someone who cannot help us back
The times we have shared the gospel
so someone could hear about our Lord Jesus
Those are the true riches
Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt,
and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also
. Matthew 6:19-21

The times we have carried our crosses,
done things very difficult we know the Lord was asking of us
Giving up the flesh somehow,
loving our enemies
Sacrificing a relationship that was not fruitful for the Lord
The times we have spoken a kind word for the Lord,
our motive being to please Him, the Lord Jesus Christ
Those are the things that will matter on Judgment day

So we spend our days here on earth, our lives are but a breath
We make the difference we make and God sorts it out in the end
Motives are important
God is weighing our hearts always
That’s how He sees us
Wealth and notoriety, what we have acquired, is not impressive to Him

Look at this beautiful prayer, filled with God’s wisdom:
Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with food convenient for me:
Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord?
or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
Proverbs 30:8-9

Let us be content with what we have
Desiring to serve the Lord and His kingdom
and not our earthly lusts and appetites
those morsels that look
so appealing and fulfilling that leave us wanting more
Let our desire be for the filling of the Holy Spirit,
the Lord God of Hosts and Him only
