Note for study: The Word of God is powerful and full bodied.
These are some thoughts on James.
The hope for all of us is that we hear from the Lord as we read
and integrate what we have learned into our lives.
This is by no means every explanation possible.
The word of God is alive and this is just what the Lord exposed to me.
Keep digging for more, the riches and richness of God’s treasure
is way beyond one person or any certain teaching.
Speak not evil one of another, brethren.
He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother,
speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law:
but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. v 11
Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Eph. 4:26
This also goes along with taming the tongue
and not sowing discord among the brethren:
A false witness that speaketh lies,
and he that soweth discord among brethren. Proverbs 6:19
One of the six things listed in Proverbs 19 that the Lord hates.
We will never have it all together
and will always need the Lord to give us wisdom and insight
on how to handle each situation we come across.
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy:
who art thou that judgest another? v 12
Who is the Judge? The only One who Judges righteously?
The only One who sees all hearts and all circumstances?
Jesus Christ.
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city,
and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: v 13
You who speak in the flesh, not knowing what tomorrow may bring.
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life?
It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time,
and then vanisheth away. v 14
None of us are as important as we think we are.
We make our plans, but the Lord directs our steps.
A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. Proverbs16:9
For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. v 15
This goes along with the Lord’s Prayer:
Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11
There are many scriptures that teach this sentiment.
This is God’s way: Trust Him.
But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. v 16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1 John 2:16
It is the spirit who gives life. The flesh profits nothing.
The words that I speak to you are spirit, and are life. John 6:63 WEB
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not,
to him it is sin. v 17
How many times do we fall into this category?
Could be many, depending on how much we let our flesh live through us
and how much we serve the Lord. The Lord will sort all that out in the end.
Jesus is looking for us to learn and grow and to increase
in our knowledge of Him and in our relationship with Him.
