The many times that Jesus offended people, He never apologized.
He also never apologized for being silent.
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery;
and when they had set her in the midst,
They say unto Him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
This they said, tempting Him, that they might have to accuse Him.
But Jesus stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground, as though He heard them not.
So when they continued asking Him, he lifted up Himself, and said unto them,
He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. John 8:3-8
When Jesus was silent, they were still listening to His words.
When He said no more, the words still resounded in their minds.
They had no argument, so they left.
They left her alone and the wisdom of God reverberated through the situation and still is working as more people read it
and as more people understand it.
Jesus never apologizes. He doesn’t have to. He is God.
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; Ecclesiastes 3:7
And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art Thou?
But Jesus gave him no answer.
Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me?
knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against Me, except it were given thee from above
therefore he that delivered Me unto thee hath the greater sin. Jon 19:9-11
Let’s look at that scripture for a second:
Jesus gave him no answer…
Then He said, Thou couldest have no power at all against Me, except it were given thee from above…
Jezebel hated to hear the prophets speak God’s word.
That made her want to kill Elijah.
God is not quiet for anyone. When He has something to say, He says it.
Most people don’t listen. When they do, they don’t recognize that is God speaking.
What did Jesus do and say that infuriated the Pharisees and the Sadducees so much?
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because He not only had broken the sabbath,
but said also that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. John 5:18
Jesus did not apologize. He is equal with God. What is there to apologize for?
He spoke what the Father gave Him to speak.
And they thought by killing Him, they would stop Him from speaking the truth? Not the case.
Jesus said what He said and He meant what He said.
All through history, Jesus’ words have been perfect.
They still are.
They will be through all eternity.
That must be why we are encouraged to tame our tongue.
Our words are also powerful.
Not anywhere nearly as powerful as His
unless we speak with His authority and the power of His Holy Spirit.
In that case, we also should neither apologize or be ashamed of Jesus’ words.
