Jesus never said, Follow a Cause
Neither did He say, Follow a Mission
Jesus didn’t say, Follow a Church or a doctrine
He said, Come Follow Me
We get wrapped up in the world and its sin and we are trying to help,
but if the Lord is not leading us, our efforts belong to us and are futile.
Seek the Lord as to where He wants you to spend your energies.
He has a path laid out for each of us.
So many good causes and so many good things we can do.
If we spend our efforts without His blessing and direction,
they are just wood, hay and stubble.
Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it,
because it shall be revealed by fire;
and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 1 Corinthians 3:13
There were times when we just need to do what is right,
such as being the Good Samaritan.
Loving our neighbors, whoever that means, feeding the poor,
helping someone in distress, the things that come up in life.
Our neighbors who sometimes ask for things from us at midnight,
in other words, at inconvenient times.
God does not want us to ignore those people and those who have needs.
He wants us to help and He will help us help others. That is His heart.
Think about the times when you know you have pleased God.
He has ways of letting you know that.
Maybe you have even forgotten specific instances,
but that is what we are here for, to please God, to let Him teach us His ways,
to let Him use us to reach others as a vessel, not on our own,
but with His leading, with His direction and His guiding, by following Jesus.
Seeking Jesus, following Jesus,
and asking Him for wisdom which He always supplies in abundance.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally,
and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. James 1:5
If any man serve Me, let him follow Me; and where I am,
there shall also My servant be:
if any man serve Me, him will My Father honour. John 12:26
Following Jesus is what our lives are all about.
No better way to find out if we are following Him than to ask Him,
to go before Him with humility
and make sure we are doing with our time what He has for us to do.
He will make it clear to us:
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: John 10:27
