Keep Walking

Ihad a layover in Chicago many years ago. I had much time to walk.
I wanted to walk to stimulate the circulation because both legs of my flight were many hours. In the terminal, which reminded me of a tunnel, there was a woman’s voice over the loud speaker who said:

“Keep Walking…keep walking, keep walking…Keep Walking…keep walking, keep walking…”

That’s all she said, repeating herself over and over. Her voice was soft, but authoritative. It was clear they wanted us to keep moving.

I have remembered that experience many times as a metaphor in my walk with Christ. When I have gotten distracted, by other people, by situations, by obstacles, my job is to follow Him: Keep Walking

Take up your cross and follow Me (Matthew 16:24)
And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. Matthew 19:29
If any one love this world, the love of the Father is not in him (1 John 2:15)
I think of the rich man, who walked away from Jesus saddened because he didn’t want to part with his worldly goods (Matthew 19:16-30)
Do not let anyone hinder you,
Go about your Father’s business like Jesus did (Luke 2:41-52)
Keep walking

I was praying for a loved one who is not saved
The Lord showed me we were not on the same paths
Mine was rough at times, but Jesus cleared the way for me
His was full of thickets and thorns, was bloodied and he could barely move

Keep on that narrow path (Matthew 7:13&14)
Keep walking, keep walking
Don’t let yourself take your eyes off of Jesus,
Don’t let yourself to get distracted by any one or any thing

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Luke 9:62

Do not turn to the right hand or to the left (Joshua 1:7&8)
just…Keep Walking
Keep following Jesus and the path He has laid out for you
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

Some things will be sent by the enemy,
other intrusions may be your flesh
or someone else who is draining you
which can divert you from following the Lord
Stop only as the Lord leads,
do not get caught up in obligations to humans
those who try to entangle you
Follow His leading, be free in His Spirit, obey God and no man
Keep Walking, keep walking

I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:14
