I have always liked King David, a man after God’s own heart
(1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22)
He was a man of integrity, not without faults,
who cherished his relationship with God
God was hard on David
He forgave him in some respects and some punishments were life-long
Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord,
and turned not aside from any thing that He commanded him
all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite. 1 Kings 15:5
David was considered worthy by the Lord, but it was mentioned that he blew it.
There were also many things David did that God remembered no more
David spoke from experience when he said this:
As far as the east is from the west,
so far hath He removed our transgressions from us. Psalm 103:12
Jesus came from David’s loins
David was a descendant of Abraham
Both Mary and Joseph are descendants of David
God also knew David’s heart
He knew he would fail
God allowed him to be king and He did not hide David’s insufficiencies from us
He failed, we fail, all humans fail
David tried and he screwed up
Some of the Psalms were the most beautiful heartfelt pieces that have been written, his Psalms are quoted over and over and we learn greatly
how to grow in God from them
David knew God and His heart and He shared what he learned with us
When thou saidst,
Seek ye My face; my heart said unto Thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. Psalm 27:8
David knew who could cleanse his sin:
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm51:10
God danced before the Lord with all his might
when he brought the Ark of the Covenant to his kingdom
In Psalm 22, David prophesied of Jesus
If you want to learn about a wonderous relationship God had with a man
Read about King David,
no doubt it will strengthen your own relationship with God
