Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers:
for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness?
and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14
God has warned us about mingling with those who do not regard Him
throughout the Bible. He always allowed for those who wanted to serve Him to be a part of His people,
but He warned very clearly about those who did not to not
allow them to intermix with His people.
Be ye therefore very courageous
to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses,
that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;
That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you;
neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them,
neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
But cleave unto the Lord your God, as ye have done unto this day. Joshua 23:6-8
God always allowed for anyone who wanted to serve Him to be welcomed.
But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt:
I am the Lord your God. Leviticus 19:34
Naomi and Ruth and Boaz,
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Ruth 1:16
The book was titled Ruth, not Naomi. Ruth followed the Lord and the Lord welcomed her. She was in Christ’s lineage as she bore Obed and Obed was the father of Jesse and Jesse was the father of King David.
Rehab the Harlot and all of her family who followed her.
And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father’s household,
and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day;
because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho. Joshua 6:25
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said,
Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Acts 10:34
God is very clear we are not to mingle closely with those who hate or refuse God.
Solomon was caught in a snare, even though he was fully warned,
he chose to disobey the wisdom of God and married many wives
who served other gods. This led to his demise.
We must be very careful that if we have people in our lives that hate God
or refuse Him that we are being led by God to bear witness of Christ.
He told the disciples if people refused Christ
after He has been preached to shake the dust off your feet.
We are not to be unequally yoked together with unbelievers.
Sometimes we have work friends or family members
that it seems we cannot get away from.
We can minister to people without being yoked together with them.
There may come a time when the Lord calls you to turn away from that relationship.
Like always, being in tune with the Holy Spirit, keeping things at the altar before Him, where He can help the situation if He wants you to minister to these people or not.
For us to think that we are their salvation is incorrect thinking.
God can and does use anyone.
We can continue to pray for them but be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is asking.
And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words,
when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
Matthew 10:14
,And if the Lord shows you to break the yoke,
do so as He is their hope if they chose to turn to Him.
