Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you,
and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
This reminds me a bit of
when Martha was complaining to the Lord
about her sister Mary
Martha was doing all the work
She thought Mary was just being lazy and sitting at Jesus’ feet:
But one thing is needful:
and Mary hath chosen that good part,
which shall not be taken away from her. Luke 10:42
Jesus didn’t tell Martha she couldn’t have that portion as well
He said “Mary has chosen.”
Martha could also have chosen
She could have chosen differently
And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha,
thou art careful and troubled about many things: Luke 10:41
Being mindful of the things of the world,
all its complications,
demands and obligations
Worry and trouble comes along with those things
Jesus is our potion:
The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
Lamentations 3:24
Jesus wants us to learn from His hand:
Drink water from your own cistern,
and running water from your own well.
Why should your springs flow in the streets,
your streams of water in the public squares?
Let them be yours alone,
never to be shared with strangers.
May your fountain be blessed,
and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth: Proverbs 5:15-18
The waters are likened unto receiving from the Lord directly
The wife of youth is like your first love,
that moment when you met Christ
and you knew that He was God
In Revelation, Jesus describes His disappointment
for those who have wandered from His side,
those who have chosen the world:
Nevertheless I have this against you,
that you have left your first love. Revelation 2:4
Another admonition:
Ye adulterers and adulteresses,
know ye not that the friendship of the world
is enmity with God?
whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world
is the enemy of God. James 4:4
The following scriptures are considered about adultery
While we can have adultery in our marriages,
we can also have adultery against the Lord
The Bible is filled with God calling those
who have strayed from Him adulterers
Please read the following, the continuation of Proverbs 5,
with that in mind:
A loving doe, a graceful fawn
may her breasts satisfy you always;
may you be captivated
by her love forever.
Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress,
or embrace the bosom of a stranger?
For a man’s ways are before the eyes of the Lord,
and the Lord examines all his paths.
The iniquities of a wicked man entrap him;
the cords of his sin entangle him.
He dies for lack of discipline,
led astray by his own great folly.
Proverbs 5:19-23
In other words, stay close to the Lord,
listen to Him, let Him teach you,
retain your first love and be satisfied with Him
Great post sister! I love reading James 4:4. I don’t see that verse enough these days.
Keep storing up those treasures in heaven, our LORD notices all the work you do.
Be blessed!
Thank you so much, Jason. I appreciate the encouragement. Glad I ran into you on earth. Won’t be long…
