Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38
The scripture above is most often considered about giving money. Let’s take money out for a minute and imagine all the other things that could mean. Maybe we can give kindness? Understanding? Maybe grace? Forgiveness? Love?
There is no end to the giving we can give to another as we consider that scripture.
The most precious gifts to God is if you remember if we do this unto the least of these my brethren we have done it unto Him. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to be kind, to share love, to offer forgiveness. God knows your sacrifices and how hard it is to pray for your enemies, to love your enemies.
What you sow, so shall ye reap. You will receive a reward for whatever you do as unto the Lord.
If you love them who love you, what reward have you?
I remember the first time the Lord asked me to apologize to my mother for something I hadn’t even done. I argued with Him at first. I told him about it. He then encouraged me to apologize for hurting her feelings. It was the first time I had done that and the hardest time. It disarmed her.
So, whatever you can give, give. Give God’s righteousness to others as much as you can, that is, remembering all the commands He gave us, like Love your neighbor as yourself; if you forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father in Heaven forgive you your trespasses; if I have not love, I am but a clanging cymbal and sounding brass; treat others like you would like to be treated, just to name a few.
He sees all. He knows all. He knows how much you have been wronged. He knows your feelings and your thoughts and your struggles. He is there for you, to strengthen you, to help you do His work. To help you to be a better person.
