But if ye do not forgive,
neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. Mark 11:26
How do you truly forgive?
From the bottom of your heart like Jesus told us?
So there is no speck of irritation or anger or unforgiveness?
It’s not easy
In fact, it is impossible to do on our own
We have to tap into God’s strength
and understanding in order to truly forgive
It is hard
The scenes play in our mind over and over
There might be no natural way to understand
how someone could do something so terrible
I first learned of this kind of forgiveness
when I was discussing forgiveness with a stranger
We somehow got into a discussion about forgiveness
and he told me how his best friend stole his wife
There were children involved and it was an ugly situation
I talked to the Lord about it
I still remember what He said,
“My Word doesn’t say you don’t have to forgive if the situation is really bad.
It says to forgive.”
Those were hard words
That means, no matter what happened,
no matter how terrible someone might be to us,
no matter how difficult the circumstances,
we are to forgive, and even more, from the bottom of our hearts
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you,
if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. Matthew 18:35
In forgiveness, we are professing that God is God,
that vengeance belongs to Him and He will repay,
that He is the righteous judge
God sees all and knows all
We have also been forgiven,
sometimes for much worse
than the act which we have had happen to us
For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me,
I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again,
The Lord shall judge his people. Hebrews 10:30
Let it go
Give it up…into the hands of Him who doeth all things well
Trust Him
Honor Him
Commit the offense to Him
Believe that His word said He will repay and move on
Yes!
