Lord, if it is You

Lord, if it is You
And Peter answered him and said,
Lord, if it be thou,
bid me come unto thee on the water. Matthew 14:28

Peter got to walk on the water
He said to the Lord, if it is You, bid me come
The water represents rising above the circumstances,
trusting God in the situation, knowing He is able to help us rise above
whatever it is that we are having difficulties with

When Peter started to sink,
because he saw the wind and the sea tumultuous,
he cried to the Lord and Jesus reached out His hand
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand,
and caught him, and said unto him,
O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Matthew 14:31

So easy to lose sight of what Jesus has directed us to do
He is faithful and He will do whatever He has promised
If we start to sink, He reaches out His hand to save us
Remember the man, Lord I believe, help thou my unbelief?
Sometimes we just want it to be over,
the process getting from point A to point B is not so enjoyable

Not sure exactly how to keep our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus
the natural world distracts us
and oftentimes Jesus’ directives and wisdom go against all that we know
Each of us is different, each situation,
and the way He teaches each of us to trust Him

If you look back on a trial you have had,
think of how you cried out to the Lord
Think of some of the things that occurred and the wisdom He gave you,
how He changed circumstances
or how He helped you walk through them with His strength
Maybe He reached out His hand when you started to sink
or maybe He gave you the strength and faith to trust Him

The point is, when He has directed us, when we are walking in His will,
He will see us through, no matter how it works out,
His hand is there to carry us through
If we make mistakes but are trying, He’ll see that,
He works all things together for our good:
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

So the next time you feel like Jesus has given you a mission, a promise,
and in the midst of it, you feel unsure, remember Peter
and the Lord’s gentle rebuke to Him:
“O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?”

Our faith grows when we have experiences,
where we can see His hand after we’ve made it to the other side
We may not be so aware of it,
but our faith is growing each step of the way as we trust Him

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Revelation 12:11

That testimony is what we already know the Lord has done,
whatever situation you are going through,
when you get to the other side,
that will be added onto your testimony of who He is in your life
What an amazing God we serve
The more we know about Him, the stronger our faith becomes
and the larger our testimony becomes for Him because we are more solid
in what He has done for us and in what He has taught us

Scriptural References:

and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
