Who can love like Jesus does?
Not a soul.
Nobody can.
Who can try?
We can try.
We can try to let Jesus love others through us.
I just saw a video clip of a bully bullying and mocking someone.
As I watched it, it got to me.
The one who was being bullied hit the bully very hard, so hard,
she collapsed to the floor, then she kicked her while she was down.
The one who was bullied did not let up.
She hit her and hit her and then kicked her.
The video cut.
The Christian who posted it said:
This is what bullies need, to be punched and kicked.
There was a brief moment of satisfaction
that moment when the one who was being bullied lost her patience.
But then the Holy Spirit rose up in me.
He reminded me that we are to love our enemies.
Do good to those who abuse us.
We are not to repay evil for evil.
Vengeance belongs to the Lord.
Don’t repay evil for evil.
Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you.
Instead, pay them back with a blessing.
That is what God has called you to do,
and He will grant you His blessing. 1 Peter 3:9 NLT
The mean girl would not have escaped God’s punishment.
God will still require her to be responsible for what she did.
The other girl who punched and kicked the bully
will be responsible for what she did.
It’s possible or probable that neither of them knew Jesus.
He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My words,
hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken,
the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48
Each one will hear from the Lord
either during this life or on Judgment Day or both.
There is a time coming when persecution will be common.
We do not know what will happen to us,
but our admonition from our Lord Jesus is to love our enemies.
Jesus did not say tolerate your enemies.
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies,
do good to them which hate you, Luke 6:27
That is loving like Jesus does.
The only way we can love like Jesus does is
if He gives us the capability to do so
and that would mean surrendering our hateful thoughts of vengeance
and leaving the retribution to Him.
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Luke 6:36
Start practicing now because these days will get more intense.
