Does loving the truth mean you love the Bible?
Or maybe Jesus?
Maybe it means to honor the scriptures,
to believe what they say
Or maybe it means to follow them or Him?
Perhaps loving the truth means to put the truth above all else,
even your thoughts
That’s what I think it means in the simplest form,
To fear God and realize that His word is the ultimate authority
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
Yesterday, I wrote a tweet in response to another person’s tweet
stating that Jesus is going to take us away
Mine was truth
The other one had 493 likes, guess how many mine had?
1, yes, just 1
Mine was a hard truth about the saints being martyred
Nobody wants to think about that martyrdom is written about
in Matthew 24 and in Revelation
Other times when I have brought up that subject,
I have been sharply rebuked by other Christians
Many think we will be whisked away in some secret rescue rapture
That will not happen
Jesus warned us many times that we will face very rough persecution
and even death
We cannot change His words and His warnings,
so if we refuse His words or twist them
to make His words sound better for the moment,
we are not loving the truth
Loving the truth means accepting what Jesus said
even when it’s unpleasant
Casting down our vain imaginations
and bringing every thought to the obedience of Christ 1 Corinthians 10:5
There are many issues in the world today that contradict the truth
Some are afraid to hurt peoples’ feelings
Love the truth anyway and don’t be ashamed of His words
which is every single word in the Bible
All scripture is God breathed…2 Timothy 3:16
Jesus’ words matter even though
popular culture may not appreciate them or they may want to walk away
like they did when Jesus spoke during His time on earth:
Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said,
This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it,
he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing:
the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
But there are some of you that believe not.
For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not,
and who should betray him.
And he said, Therefore said I unto you,
that no man can come unto me,
except it were given unto him of my Father. John 6:60-65
Any matter that needs to be addressed should be addressed
as the Holy Spirit leads and as He opens the door to preach the gospel
That does not mean Jesus’ words will always be well-received
Jesus gave a stark warning
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words
in this adulterous and sinful generation;
of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed,
when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
Mark 8:38
Do not comfort people in their sin
You will be hated on account of My name, another warning Matthew 10:22
This is what scripture says if we don’t love the truth: 2 Thessalonians 2:11
God will send a spirit of delusion
Make a choice to love the truth even when you don’t like it
To accept that His word is above all, whether our flesh likes it or not
His word is truth
We cannot change the truth
neither can we change what Jesus has spoken
We will face dire circumstances, like the potential to fall away,
if we choose not to love the truth above what we want to hear
Love the truth
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness
in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth,
that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion,
that they should believe a lie:
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth,
but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11
