Do you ever try to judge yourself?
That is scriptural, we are supposed to examine ourselves.
Though our human thoughts cannot always weigh things correctly.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1 Corinthians 11:31
This word judge in Scripture signifies all parts of judgment, examining, accusing, condemning, & here it signifies accusing ourselves, condemning ourselves; discriminating ourselves, by the renewings of faith and repentance, from unbelievers, impenitent and profane persons: if we would thus judge ourselves, God would not accuse or condemn us.
Matthew Poole’s Commentary from biblehub.com
That is when we, before God and His word, bow down our actions,
our thoughts and put our flesh to death.
Our repentance is a part of our responsibility, being open before the Lord,
remembering that we are uncovered and laid bare unto Him
and nothing can be hidden from Him.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight:
but all things are naked and opened
unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:13
Any of us who measure themselves by their own merit
have not examined themselves righteously.
If you find that, in Him, you have been forgiven,
you have or hope to receive His mercy and grace
and have accepted His word that His blood covers all sins.
This is what His word teaches us:
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned,
we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
1 John 1:9-10
Circumcise your heart.
And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness,
and repenteth Him of the evil. Joel 2:13
Doing anything by your own efforts
|to gain entry to the Kingdom is offensive to the Lord.
When we meet Him face to face,
if we rely on our own selves, this will cause us great shame.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm 51:17
There is no way to measure up before the Lord by our good deeds.
Ask the Lord to reveal any sin hidden in your heart.
The following scriptures will help you remember
that once you confess a sin with a right heart, this is how God will respond:
This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord,
I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Hebrews 10:16-17
