Our perspective will be different from God’s
We think in earthly ways
God sees all, knows all, understands all,
He takes in everything when considering a situation.
He looks on the heart. He considers all avenues, all angles,
there is not one consideration that is left out with His profound wisdom.
It’s impossible to think like God without God.
There is no way.
His infinite wisdom gathers all information
and brings a conclusion that we may or may not understand.
And that we may or may not agree with.
Still, His thoughts are higher and His ways are higher
To consider any thought of ours as better
or more well-thought out than God’s thoughts is preposterous.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.
But he that is spiritual judgeth all things,
yet he himself is judged of no man.
For who hath known the mind of the Lord,
that he may instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16
He does know how we feel,
He does know what they said,
what they did, what their intentions were,
how horrible the situation may be,
He knows it all
How do we have a meeting of the minds with God?
One answer: Humility
Admitting that His thoughts are higher than ours
Casting down imaginations,
and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:5
Don’t want to?
Believe me, there have been plenty of times I haven’t wanted to
and I told God all about it, pleaded my case,
made sure God realized exactly what happened
in case there was something He did not consider.
Yes. Plenty of times.
I learned each and every time that He already knew…everything.
There was nothing He hadn’t considered.
Sometimes the answer was: Let it go anyway, even though they were hurtful,
out in left field, and were definitely in the wrong.
That was where I needed to surrender in humility and let God be God,
knowing He would judge the situation righteously
and if they deserved to be punished or judged, He would take care of it.
Other times, I just had to let it go, not knowing what would happen.
Out of humility and obedience to His word, especially:
Forgive (Matthew 6:14-15)
Love your enemies (Luke 6:27-36)
Trusting that He would judge righteously
and that it was my job to leave it at His throne and walk away
and forget about it the best I could.
Part of that humility comes from remembering
that I myself had made plenty of mistakes,
hurt lots of people over the years and been forgiven by Jesus Himself.
There is a maturity in Christ that happens
when you are able to see things from God’s perspective.
He will show you if you ask, it has to be asked in humility,
accepting that His thoughts are higher,
that He knows more than you do.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways,
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
Let’s look at racism as a subject for an example.
A person may despise a certain bunch of people,
think of themselves as better than they are,
have multiple reasons,
personal experiences and have even had wrongs done by them
personally which could exacerbate and fuel that disdain.
Scripture will squelch that prejudice.
With humility knowing that God looks on the heart.
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said,
Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Acts 10:34
You cannot argue with God’s word.
It is inspired and God-breathed, (2 Timothy 3:16)
so like it or not,
His word is higher than our thoughts and ways.
One thing to do to be a better person in God’s sight
is to admit that and then find other scriptures
that will help you to be strengthened by His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 3:16)
to actually be a good example of Christ here on earth.
Humility is a beautiful thing, learning to have the mind of Christ,
to think like Him, asking Him,
learning from Him will allow us to have a Meeting of the Minds with God:
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit,
but with humility consider one another
as more important than yourselves; Philippians 2:3 NASB
Henceforth I call you not servants;
for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth:
but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father
I have made known unto you. John 15:15
