But he answered and said, It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4
There are a lot of reasons to memorize scripture
it is God’s word, that is, a written description of God and His ways
In the beginning was the Word
and Word was with God and the Word was God. John 1:1
The Bible is God
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father),
full of grace and truth. John 1:14
God gave us His word so we could understand Him
All through the scriptures,
the character of God shines through
and He often shared His thoughts with the prophets
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man:
but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:21
The Bible is God’s Word, God breathed, His words are Life
All scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness: 2 Timothy 3:16
The Word of God is our Daily Bread
Give us this day our daily bread. Matthew 6:11
Jesus is the Bread of Life
And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life:
he that cometh to Me shall never hunger;
and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst. John 6:35
The Word of God becomes a part of us
We remember some things He said and did
and that helps us to know how He thinks and know what pleases Him
We are exhorted to meditate on the Word
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth;
but thou shalt meditate therein day and night,
that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein:
for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous,
and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:8
In our uncertain world, things are changing as we draw nearer to The End
Knowing and keeping His word in our heart
will see us through many hard times,
We can speak the Word, sing the Word, pray the Word,
and share the Word of God if we learn and memorize it
