Therefore shall ye lay up these My words in your heart and in your soul,
and bind them for a sign upon your hand,
that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
And ye shall teach them to your children,
speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house
and when thou walkest by the way,
when thou liest down and when thou risest up.
And thou shalt write them upon the doorposts of thine house
and upon thy gates, Deuteronomy 11:18-20
Frontlets were worn as an outward display
on the hand or forehead
The wearing of frontlets was a way to proclaim
the Word of God and His commandments
as a way of life for those who believe and who have chosen to follow the Lord It was also a reminder for the wearer to continue to fully serve the Lord
Keeping His Word in the forefront of our mind
Quite interesting that in Revelation when the Mark of the Beast comes up,
the right hand or the forehead are mentioned as two places on the body
the Mark of the Beast will be offered to Earth dwellers
The Word of God was rare back then:
And the child Samuel ministered unto the Lord before Eli.
And the word of the Lord was precious in those days;
there was no open vision. 1 Samuel 3:1
That could be taken in more ways than one
Not everyone had the Word of God written down so they could read it,
even some of the priests and kings did not have all the words of God
until later in history
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord.
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
And these words which I command thee this day shall be in thine heart;
and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,
and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house
and when thou walkest by the way,
and when thou liest down and when thou risest up.
And thou shalt bind them as a sign upon thine hand,
and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.
And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house and on thy gates.
And it shall be, when the Lord thy God
shall have brought thee into the land which He swore unto thy fathers,
to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob,
to give thee great and goodly cities which thou built not,
and houses full of all good things which thou filled not,
and wells dug which thou dug not, vineyards and olive trees which thou planted not, when thou shalt have eaten and be full,
then beware lest thou forget the Lord who brought thee forth
out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve Him, and shalt swear by His name. Deuteronomy 6:4-13
Lovely Scripture Song:
We are truly blessed to be here, now,
with the Lord’s word at our fingertips at all times,
on our computers, on our phones
While we don’t wear frontlets,
we are witnesses to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit
and we are to proclaim His word
and keep His word in our heart and mind and on our lips every moment
Just a warning I have heard from the Lord:
We need to memorize the Word of God as much as we can,
and hide it in our hearts because we may not always have access to it
