Once Saved, Always Saved?

Those who are sure they cannot fall away
are in the greatest danger of falling away

Here is why:
Since each person must work out his or her own salvation
with fear and trembling,
that shows that each person is ultimately in charge of their own salvation

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed,
not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence,
work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Philippians 2:12

That doesn’t mean they save themselves
but it does mean they decide each day, and sometimes each moment, whether or not they are going to follow Jesus

We have been given free will and God does not take that away
We continue to choose whether or not we want to follow Jesus
Falling Away is simply another way to make a choice, call it Walking Away
Choosing to follow some other deity or another entity or person or angel

If we lose our fear of God and become proud in our hearts,
God forbid, let us remain humble,
relying on Jesus and trusting Him for our salvation

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord,
choose you this day whom ye will serve,
whether the gods which your fathers served
that were on the other side of the river,
or the gods of the Amorites in whose land ye dwell.
But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord
. Joshua 24:15

The Israelites were a great example of those who had to choose
whether to follow God or not
They followed Moses and Moses was an example of Christ
long before Christ was sent to us

When they weren’t following Moses, who encouraged them to follow God,
they were whining, grumbling and complaining,
lusting after the things of the world,
grieving and vexing God and Moses, worshiping golden calves,
wanting to go back to Egypt
Remember Lot’s Wife. Luke 17:32

So, the Once Saved, Always Saved idea is up to each of us, each day
Will you still follow Jesus and carry your cross?
Will you still obey His commands and confess Him as Savior
and serve Him as God?
Will you continue to turn from sin and walk away from the world?
Carry your cross Daily.

Then He said to them all, If anyone desires to come after Me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me
. Luke 9:23
