Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Proverbs 3:5
Opinions can be idols.
We speak ours, we elevate them, we share them with others, we think about them a lot
and get mad when people don’t accept them or agree.
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God,
and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 2 Corinthians 10:5
This is where we need to put our thoughts on the altar, to relinquish them before the throne of God.
Our opinions are so important, we think. Whose thoughts really matter? Not ours.
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord.
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9
This goes along with seeking God’s wisdom and loving the truth above our own perceptions.
If we elevate our own thoughts and ideas above God in our own minds, where is our focus?
It is not on Jesus.
If we keep our opinions elevated in our minds, where is our humility before God?
We are thinking in our carnal minds, that is, unless and until,
we have cast down our lofty imaginations
to allow God’s thoughts and His word to reign in our minds and hearts.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh;
but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death;
but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:
for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. Romans 8:5-7
To worship your own opinions or encourage others to do so is being carnally minded.
If your opinions are one with God and His word, then letting His Spirit lead the way
in how you present His word is honorable and He will open doors for you to share His word.
Plowing through to force thoughts on others is not pleasing to God.
Shall you say what is in your heart, yes, when you are yielded to and are prompted by the Holy Spirit.
He will guide you and some will accept it and others not.
Let go of foolish thoughts and keep His word in the forefront.
His word will never come back empty. It will accomplish what He desires it to do.
So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth: it shall not return unto Me void,
but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:11
Love God with all your mind…
And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind,
and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. Mark 12:30
Then, go forth in the power and authority of the word of God.
