Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!
for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin,
and have omitted the weightier matters of the law,
judgment, mercy, and faith:
these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Matthew 23:23
The Pharisees paid tithes of what they wanted,
but they left out what was important to God
They weren’t giving the best of themselves
A question to ponder:
Do you give God your best?
That is a deep question
Think of your priorities
Who is number one?
It is hard to give God your first fruits, the best of you
God is invisible
He is not demanding
He looks on what we do and we know He is there
but He doesn’t command us to do things a certain way,
Or does He?
With the priests in the Old Testament, God was very specific
And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying,
Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb,
both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt offering; Leviticus 9:3
God said without blemish
Maybe people thought to keep the best for themselves,
but God wanted the best
That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth,
which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God giveth thee,
and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place
which the Lord thy God shall choose to place His name there.
Deuteronomy 26:2
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me:
and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.
Matthew 10:37
God still wants our first fruit, He wants our best, He deserves our best
