As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you;
and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem. Isaiah 66:3
We need comfort in this day and age
We always have needed comfort
Some of us may not have had much comfort from our mothers or fathers
or may not have had someone else to fill in that void as we were growing up
such as a grandmother or other close loved one
Our adult life might’ve given us more comfort from people,
but people cannot comfort us like God can
God comforts us with His Holy Spirit who was sent to us to comfort us
He understands all things and will remind us how much God loves us
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in My name,
He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 14:26
As we grow in our relationship with God and become more solid,
our closeness to God becomes more real
We understand His spoken word, His love for us,
even if we have had a rough go with life
His comfort reaches us and becomes a part of us
because we know He is there for us
and that He will never leave us nor forsake us
He leads us and guides us into all truth
which is what helps us to follow His ways and lean on His promises by faith
We cannot follow Christ all on our own,
His Holy Spirit helps us and comforts us in every way needed
Additional Scriptures:
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7
Let your conversation be without covetousness;
and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said,
I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Hebrews 13:5
Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come,
He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself;
but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak:
and He will shew you things to come.
John 16:13
