When you read the Old Testament and see the Kings that were in power, some of them were very wicked, only a few followed the Lord, only one mentioned that followed the Lord completely. Josiah.
And like unto him was there no king before him,
that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul,
and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses;
neither after him arose there any like him. 2 Kings 23:25
Even Josiah failed to obey the Lord completely and that led to his death.
All that to say, even the most righteous King, whom God honored and appreciated was human and wasn’t perfect.
We all have our kingdoms, our domains, that we are responsible for, that we have influence in. Some things we have more control over than others. This is a reminder that what God has given us, the land to till, to plant seeds in, to water and harvest and care for, is our responsibility. So are the people, the authority in whatever capacity we have been given and each time we interact with another, we are either pleasing God or not. Our realm could be very large or very small. Either way, it is ours and we are responsible for all things concerning our life and how we serve the Lord.
