The discretion of a man deferreth his anger;

It pleases God when we overlook the offenses of others.
Similar to not focusing on evil.
From 1 Corinthians 13, the chapter on love:
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own,
is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; v 5
Jesus wants us to forgive and move on. Forgive from the bottom of our hearts.
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves:
for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8
The agape love that we are to have for each other
is the same agape love that God has for each of us.
That is what He asks of us.
For us to love others as He has loved us.
A new commandment I give unto you,
That ye love one another; as I have loved you,
that ye also love one another. John 13:34
And to overlook their faults,
which can be a very difficult way to extend love to them.
