Satan wants to make your life tougher.
He’s always lurking about to see who he can use as a willing victim to cause you harm.
There always seems to be someone who will take the bait.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about,
seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8
While that is true, he tries to trap us with people and things that people do or say.
If we are wise to his ways, and we remember that he may use this tactic at any time.
We can pray to recognize it when it happens and maybe, someday,
we can recognize more easily how to give the hurt to Jesus that instant and respond in kind.
Overlooking wrongs.
That’s the same idea as, “Turn the other cheek.” from Matthew 5:39
OR
“Love covers a multitude of sins.” from 1 Peter 4:8
Let’s look at Proverbs 19:11 in three different versions:
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression. KJV
A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense. NIV
Sensible people control their temper; they earn respect by overlooking wrongs. NLT
If only we could all get there and stay there where we are not letting things other people do get to us.
Granted, there are many people we would choose not to be around,
but it seems if it’s not one, it’s another and we find ourselves in their company whether we like it or not.
Annoying people are everywhere.
People who say hurtful things are everywhere.
It’s very easy to pick apart the faults of others and God does not want us to do that.
It is also true that we may have past hurts that might trigger us when people do or say certain things.
There are also those people that go about and leave a trail of destruction in their paths.
Whatever the case, God wants us to do our best to concentrate
on the good things He is doing in our lives and throughout each day.
Jesus is there, right beside us. He knows the rotten thing that someone else said to you.
He knows the person that could have helped make a situation better but chose to make it worse.
He sees all and He knows all. He will deal with each deed. He is asking us to do better with His help.
Jesus is asking us to let Him have the vengeance, after all, it does belong to Him.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
Give that big burden to Him. Let Him carry it for you. Give your enemies a little love from Jesus.
Show Him that you trust Him to take care of things. He is able.
The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. Psalm 103:8
