Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 NASB
I needed to hear that today. It hit the spot.
Doesn’t Jesus always say just the right words at the right time?
He reaches deep down into our innermost being,
to the core of our existence and He touches and heals with His word.
Each time He speaks, it is with purpose and its meaning is just what we need.
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me: John 10:27
He also said, And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him:
for they know not the voice of strangers. John 10:5
We might know a thousand scriptures, but when He speaks His word,
it is a balm, refreshing, it strikes a cord within our heart.
Jesus knows how to communicate with us.
His mercy never fails and is without end. He knows we need to hear from Him.
So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs,
they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship:
and they were afraid. But He saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. John 6:19-20
Isn’t that just what they needed to hear?
What about the lady who was about to be stoned?
And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto Him a woman taken in adultery;
and when they had set her in the midst, John 8:3
Here is the lady surrounded by those who wanted to kill her,
maybe even holding stones ready to throw them.
Jesus didn’t say anything at first as they waited for His answer.
He wrote on the ground with His finger. They waited.
So when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. John 8:7
Jesus’ perfect words, by the way.
None of them had an answer and all left.
So, here come more of Jesus’ perfect words,
the perfect answer at the perfect time:
When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman,
He said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers?
hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord.
And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
John 8:10-11
Jesus is there to get us to the other side, to get through the storm,
to help us battle the enemy
and give us the strength to forgive the enemy all at the same time.
If we seek Jesus’ face, we will hear His heart toward us,
we will hear His Living word spoken to us
to help us get through whatever we are going through.
A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver. Proverbs 25:11
