People have a fascination with Satan.
He is washed up, a failure, a loser.
People are still interested in him.
I watched a video the other day.
It was a guy’s testimony.
It gave Satan credibility.
It had a man sharing what happened when he asked Satan some questions.
The questions were not important nor were Satan’s responses.
Satan talked to Jesus.
Jesus rebuked him.
He answered him with the word of God.
That was the end of that.
When Satan tempted Jesus,
Jesus spoke the word to him:
And Jesus answered and said unto him,
Get thee behind me, Satan:
for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God,
and Him only shalt thou serve. Luke 4:8
When Jesus cast out demons in The Bible, he did not let the demons speak.
He asked their name once.
He told them to be quiet.
Jesus had no use for Satan or his minions.
He did not give them any credence.
Jesus did not engage in conversation with demons.
He had no respect for them.
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. Mark 1:25
You will find nowhere in The Bible that instructs us to
or encourages us to engage in conversation with Satan.
We are not to focus on him, nor are we to elicit information from him.
Every answer we need is written in The Bible.
We are instead told to resist him.
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
James 4:7
We are also told to keep our focus on the Lord Jesus Christ.
For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities,
or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:
And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.
And He is the head of the body, the church:
who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;
that in all things He might have the preeminence. Colossians 1:16-18
That is just one of many of the verses that tell us to keep Jesus front and center.
And this is just one of many verses that tell us Satan is subject to Jesus
unless we fall for his schemes:
Lest Satan should get an advantage of us:
for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2 Corinthians 2:11
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion,
walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 5:8
He will deceive you if you let him.
That’s his priority.
He is always hoping, looking for the opportunity to trip us up.
To make us stumble and lose our purpose.
Knowing Satan is not our purpose.
Knowing Jesus is what we are here for.
This is what Jesus desires of us, for us to know Him in His fulness
and for Him to know us in a solid relationship
which comes from spending time together.
Scriptural References:
Giving thanks unto the Father,
which hath made us meet to be partakers
of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son:
In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities,
or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him:
And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.
And He is the head of the body, the church:
who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;
that in all things He might have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell;
And, having made peace through the blood of His cross,
by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him,
I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Colossians 1:12-20
